Thursday 19 March 2020: In the wake of the ongoing public health emergency from the Coronavirus, GTNT Group has announced the cancellation of its flagship awards event, the GTNT Group Awards Night, which was due to take place at the Mindil Beach Casino Resort on Friday 15 May 2020.

Category awards will still be presented to finalists in line with the current event timetable, and we look forward to holding a celebratory event for participants later in the year, situation permitting.  All ticket holders will receive full refunds and further announcements will be communicated in due course.

The safety and well-being of the extended GTNT Group family is paramount and, while extremely disappointing, we have decided this is the best course of action given the rapidly changing situation surrounding COVID-19. Kathryn Stenson, CEO of GTNT Group, stated “These are unprecedented times and we are dealing with high levels of uncertainty. We are disappointed that for the first time since we began the GTNT Group Awards Night in 2005 that we will not be able to host this magical event. This assessment was not taken lightly and after considering many safety factors and consulting with several experts, we made the decision to cancel the night itself.

“The GTNT Group Awards Night sees several hundred individuals coming from all over the Northern Territory, with a number also travelling from interstate, to attend. While a very difficult decision to make, in the interest of preventing unnecessary exposure risks and doing our part to protect our community, it is the right course of action at this point in time.

"We will still be issuing category winners and finalists with their awards, as we feel that their efforts should be recognised. While we will not be having our usual awards night to celebrate as we have done in previous years, our 2020 finalists and winners are no less important. I look forward to a time when the worst is over, and we can come together as a group to celebrate these fantastic individuals and their achievements."

GTNT Group is closely monitoring the outbreak of COVID-19 and following guidance from both the NT and Australian Government health officials. The well-being of our staff and the GTNT Group family is our highest priority, and we will continue to adjust business practices and decisions to ensure the health and safety of our wider community.
