Host Business of the Month - Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park
Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park have been partnered with GTNT since August 2016. The National Park is jointly managed by its traditional owners Anangu and Parks Australia, its located in the spiritual heart of Australia's Red Centre in the Northern Territory, about 450 kilometres southwest of Alice Springs by road.
Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park is internationally recognised as a World Heritage Area. It is one of the properties in the world to be dual-listed by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) for outstanding natural and cultural values.
The park was first listed on the World Heritage list in 1987, when the international community recognised its spectacular geological formations, rare plants, animals and exceptional natural beauty.
In 1994, the park became only the second in the world to be acclaimed for its cultural landscape. This listing honours the traditional belief systems as part of one of the oldest human societies on the earth.
GTNT currently provide mentoring and monitoring support for two local Indigenous apprentices working at the park. One apprentice is undertaking his Certificate III in Conservation Land Management, with the training being provided by Charles Darwin University, while the other trainee is undertaking her Certificate II in Business, with the off-the-job training provided by Dovaston Training & Assessment Centre.
Both are expected to finish later this year. Throughout their apprenticeship they have both received great feedback from their supervisors and are a valued team member within the workplace.
